Your Oral Health Care Team

As head of the team of oral health, your dentist works closely with the dental hygienist, dental assistant and clerical staff to keep you and your mouth healthy. Each team member plays an important role.
Your dentist
Your dentist is an expert in oral health. He knows how the health of your teeth, gums and your mouth is connected to your well-being.
Only your dentist has the knowledge, skills and training necessary to:
     * Examine and diagnose your oral;
     * Recommend treatment and run;
     * Advise you on the care you need.
The dental hygienist
Like the dentist, dental hygienist helps prevent dental disease and keep your mouth healthy. She is certified to clean your teeth and you talk about the importance of taking care of your teeth and gums at home. The dental hygienist can do a cursory review of your teeth and gums and report to your dentist. In some firms, is the only dentist who does and who takes care of your dental hygiene. The dental hygienist may take X-rays and fingerprints, cleaning and polishing your teeth and apply fluoride.
The dental assistant
The dental assistant helps the dentist during examinations and treatment procedures. She prepares patients before treatment, passing instruments and materials to keep the dentist and dry mouth with a suction device during treatment procedures. It sterilizes dental instruments and may take X-rays and fingerprints, polishing your teeth and apply fluoride.
